New York Farm Our New York farm is managed as a sustainable growth hardwoods ecosystem located in the beautiful Thousand Islands area of New York's "north country." Natural stands of maple, basswood, and hemlock are mixed with plantations of eastern black walnut and butternut, open fields, and more than 80 acres of wetlands habitat. In addition to farming and timber operations, we are actively managing the tract as a wildlife ecosystem. Click here for Photo Gallery
 | Wetlands Rehabilitation Historically, wetlands have been viewed as "problem" areas to be remedied. However, recent environmental and biological science has demonstrated that natural wetlands play a vital role in maintaining water quality, reducing seasonal flooding, and recharging aquifers. Wetlands are also critical to wildlife, providing breeding, feeding, and nesting habitat to waterfowl and upland wildlife. Our wetlands restoration and conservation plan is targeted to preserve plant and animal species, many of which are underrepresented in the north country as well as encourage nesting and breeding of waterfowl. |

Butternuts are hardier and its native range extends well into Canada. Continued... |
Innovative Home Construction
Consistent with the overall management philosophy of our farm, we wanted to construct a home that was unobtrusive and utilized raw materials from our own property to the greatest extent possible. Climatic conditions of the area are extreme - more than 100 inches of snow, frigid temperatures, potential of high winds, thunderstorms and lightning strikes, and microbursts. We designed our home with all of this in mind. Continued... |
